This renovation of a cherished California bungalow posed a rewarding challenge: preserve its heritage charm while creating a modern, light-filled extension seamlessly integrated with the garden and pool.
We carefully deconstructed the previous extension—retaining the sub-floor and basement—before building a new living zone that captures northern light and encourages connection to the outdoors. The open-plan design centres around an entertainer’s kitchen and flows to a deck shaded by a pergola tuned for seasonal performance.
The bold charcoal exterior contrasts with the white weatherboards of the original home, highlighting the architectural journey. Inside, restored period details are balanced with contemporary finishes, including varied wall tones and extended oak flooring.
Upgrades to insulation, airtightness and the installation of a substantial solar PV system enhance the home’s comfort and efficiency—reflecting our commitment to quality, beauty and long-term sustainability.
