Hawthorn is a considered renovation and two-storey extension to a 1930s Art Deco semi-detached home in Melbourne’s inner east.

Working within the existing fabric, the project balances restoration with contemporary construction, retaining the home’s original character while improving functionality, light and flow for modern family living. Careful sequencing and detailing were required to integrate new structure and services seamlessly with the original building.

Completed during the challenges of the COVID period, the project reflects HONE’s focus on build quality, collaboration and craftsmanship, delivering a durable and timeless outcome designed to perform well for decades to come.
